Beeswax Candles from Brighter Blessings - the perfect gift for all occasions

Candle Care

Safety First...

Firstly, and most importantly, here are some safety issues to consider before using your candles:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Never place a burning candle near something flammable.

  • Keep burning candles out of reach of children and pets.

  • Always place your candle on a heat-resistant, flameproof surface before lighting it.

  • Use caution when blowing out your candle. Blowing with force could cause the melted wax to splatter. For safest results, extinguish your candle using a candlesnuffer.

  • To prevent smoking, trim wick to ¼ inch prior to each use and keep trimmed.

More Candle Care Tips...

  • Burning candles close together in groups will affect the burn time and quality of the burn because the heat generated by the candles will cause rapid melting and softening of the wax.

  • Remove any bits of wick or other foreign matter from the pool of melted wax after extinguishing your candle.

  • Extinguish taper or pillar candles when they get within 2" of their holders.

  • Burn away from draughts. This can cause uneven burning of your candle.

  • Always use containers that have been made for candle usage.

  • Discontinue use of a container candle when ½" of wax remains.

  • And finally, aged beeswax candles burn even longer than freshly made ones. Keep some candles stored away to burn at a later date if possible.

Taking Care of your Candles...

All candles from Brighter Blessings are handmade using the finest beeswax, herbs and essential oils. When burning our candles, there are a few things to consider helping maintain their beauty and extend their life.

The first time you burn a candle, allow it to burn until the melted wax (also known as "The melt pool") covers the top of the candle. In further lightings, keep the burning time down to a maximum of three or four hours. This insures a clean, efficient burning cycle for the life of the candle, and also guards against over-perfuming and smoking of the candle. If smoking does occur, extinguish your candle (remember – don’t blow!) by pressing the wick into the wax, and then repositioning the wick. Wait for your candle to cool, and then re-trim to ¼ inch.
